Second Grade

Mrs. Lana Losuk

Welcome to St. Brigid’s 2nd Grade.

At St. Brigid St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Academy, our vibrant English Language Arts (ELA) 2nd grade curriculum is designed to engage students through diverse texts and interactive learning experiences. We emphasize the importance of reading comprehension, critical thinking, and effective communication skills. Through a variety of literature—ranging from classic novels to contemporary works—students explore themes that promote empathy and cultural understanding. Collaborative discussions and writing assignments allow students to express their insights and develop their voices, fostering a lifelong love for reading and learning.

Complementing our ELA program is the Eureka Math Squared curriculum, which encourages a deep understanding of mathematical concepts and problem-solving skills. This curriculum goes beyond rote memorization, promoting a conceptual framework that enables students to think critically and apply their math knowledge in real-world scenarios. Through hands-on activities, collaborative group work, and guided practice, students build confidence in their abilities while enjoying the process of mathematical discovery. Our approach ensures that students not only excel in math but also develop a positive attitude towards challenges and perseverance.

Mrs. Lana embodies the spirit of our teaching philosophy, demonstrating a genuine love for teaching that resonates with her students. Her enthusiasm creates an inspiring classroom environment where curiosity thrives, and every student feels valued. By integrating prosocial behaviors into her lessons, Mrs. Lana helps students learn the importance of empathy, collaboration, and respect. This holistic approach not only nurtures academic growth but also supports emotional and social maturity, preparing students to be compassionate individuals in their communities. Through her guidance, students develop both a strong sense of self and a passion for learning that lasts beyond the classroom walls.
