What we do:

The kindergarten ELA (English Language Arts) curriculum focuses on developing foundational literacy skills essential for young learners. It emphasizes phonemic awareness, where children learn to recognize and manipulate sounds in words, and phonics, which teaches them the relationship between letters and sounds. Vocabulary development is encouraged through exposure to a variety of texts, interactive read-alouds, and vocabulary games. Children are guided to practice comprehension skills by discussing stories and answering questions. Additionally, writing is introduced through drawing and labeling, helping students express their ideas and begin forming sentences.

In mathematics, the kindergarten curriculum aims to establish a solid number sense and basic mathematical concepts. Students explore counting, number recognition, and simple addition and subtraction through hands-on activities and engaging games. They learn to identify and describe shapes, patterns, and measurements, fostering spatial awareness and logical reasoning. Activities often incorporate manipulatives, allowing children to visualize and better understand mathematical concepts. Overall, the curriculum is designed to create a fun and interactive learning environment, encouraging curiosity and a love for learning in both ELA and math.
