Online Math Class – Notice for Parents

Hello Parents,

Because our school building is closed due to the coronavirus situation, my math class will now take place online. Each grade will receive a live video math lesson everyday from Monday to Friday. Please see the schedule below:

Schedule

Math 6 – 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM

Math 7 – 10:15 AM – 11:15 AM

Math 8 – 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM

Lesson Flexibility

In order to accommodate some students, this method will offer two options. 1) Students can join the class at the scheduled time and see it live. I encourage them to do this in case they want to ask questions at that moment. Or 2) if students are unavailable for some reason, they can join the class at another time and watch the recording of it.

Homework

Students will receive homework everyday on the lesson video lesson. The homework will be due that same day at 11:59 PM, the end of the day.

Tests

Because it is difficult to monitor students while they’re at home, all math quizzes and tests will have to be postponed until we all come back from this situation. Students will be taking these as soon as they come back. Therefore, please advise your children that the best way to prepared for this is to watch the lessons, ask questions, and do the homework.

Make-Ups

Unlike the other trimesters, this time I cannot promise to give credit for make-up homeworks or tests.

Technical Concerns

  • Every video lesson and homework is delivered through an app called Microsoft Teams. This app will also allow myself and students to communicate through chat and video conferencing. Parents are welcome to always check their child’s tablet and communication.
  • Students will record their work and notes in an app called Microsoft OneNote.

I ask that you check that your child is keeping up with his/her online work. I encourage you to ask any question. Thank you in advance for your cooperation. Let’s make the best of this situation and not allow the crisis to ruin our children’s education.
